Women in Construction (Female only course)

The course runs two days a week from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This 12-week course is designed for women interested in starting a career in the construction industry or learning basic DIY skills for home projects. The course offers fundamental training in key areas of the industry within a supportive, women-only environment.

  • Bricklaying
    • Introduction to basic bricklaying techniques
    • Hands-on experience in brickwork construction
    • Understanding different types of bricks and mortar
  • Joinery
    • Essential principles of joinery
    • Hands-on practice with basic joinery tools
    • Building foundational skills in woodworking
  • Plastering
    • Basics of plastering techniques
    • Application and smoothing of plaster on different surfaces
    • Understanding the role of plastering in construction
  • Tiling
    • Introduction to tile types and materials
    • Practical tiling skills for various surfaces
    • Grouting and finishing techniques
  • Plumbing
    • Basics of plumbing systems and components
    • Hands-on experience in basic plumbing installations
    • Understanding plumbing safety practices
  • Painting and Decorating
    • Fundamentals of painting and decorating
    • Hands-on experience with different painting techniques
    • Choosing colour schemes and applying finishes

  • Introduction to Brickwork- £445

During this 5 day Brickwork course you will learn about:

  • A corner
  • A pillar
  • A pier
  • A cavity wall
  • How to do pointing
  • Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE)will be required by you:
    • Safety boots
    • Overalls

Introduction to Carpentry-£475

During this 5 day Carpentry course you will learn about:

  • Use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc
  • Cut basic wooden joints
  • Cut and fit architraves and skirting
  • Fit a Lock
  • Fit a door into a lining/frame (Time permitting)
  • Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE) will be required by you:
    • Safety boots
    • Overalls

Introduction to Plumbing- £475

During this 5 day Plumbing course you will learn about:

  • Plumbing systems and fittings
  • Jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
  • Dealing with valves, taps, cisterns
  • Plumbing pipework
  • Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE)will be required by you:
    • Safety boots
    • Overalls

Introduction to Painting & Decorating- £445

During this 5 day Painting & Decorating course you will learn about:

  • Prepare areas before painting including repairing imperfections
  • Apply water and oil-based products using brushes and rollers
  • Learn how to cut around obstructions, openings, and fittings and
  • Learn how to properly cut, paste, and hang wallpaper
  • Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE)will be required by you:
    • Safety boots
    • Overalls

Introduction to Tiling- £445

During this 5 day Tiling course you will learn about:

  • Preparing your area
  • Setting out
  • Cutting and laying tiles and
  • Finishing (grouting and cleaning)
  • Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE)will be required by you:
    • Safety boots
    • Overalls

We will teach you all about the different adhesives and tiles available and we will explain all of the tools used to complete a tiling installation.

You will learn floor and wall tiling including how to tile around windows and reveals, socket areas and splash-backs.

Introduction to Plastering- £445

During this 5 day Plastering course you will learn about:

  • Health & Safety and PPE
  • Cut and fix plaster board to walls and ceilings
  • Tape standard and internal joints
  • Cut and fix angle beads around windows and reveals.
  • Prepare surfaces before plastering using bonding plaster and finishing plaster, ensuring a flat finished surface ready for decorating
  • Mix plastering materials
  • Skim walls
  • Skim ceilings
  • Apply PVA adhesive Uni-bond to existing surfaces.
