Women in Construction (Female only course)

The course runs two days a week from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This 12-week course is designed for women interested in starting a career in the construction industry or learning basic DIY skills for home projects. The course offers fundamental training in key areas of the industry within a supportive, women-only environment.

During this 5 day Brickwork course you will learn about:

• A corner
• A pillar
• A pier
• A cavity wall
• How to do pointing

Introduction to Carpentry-£475

During this 5 day Carpentry course you will learn about:

• Use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc
• Cut basic wooden joints
• Cut and fit architraves and skirting
• Fit a Lock
• Fit a door into a lining/frame (Time permitting)

Introduction to Plumbing- £475

During this 5 day Plumbing course you will learn about:

• Plumbing systems and fittings
• Jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
• Dealing with valves, taps, cisterns
• Plumbing pipework
• Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE)will be required by you:
  • Safety boots
  • Overalls

Introduction to Painting & Decorating- £445

During this 5 day Painting & Decorating course you will learn about:

• Prepare areas before painting including repairing imperfections
• Apply water and oil-based products using brushes and rollers
• Learn how to cut around obstructions, openings, and fittings and
• Learn how to properly cut, paste, and hang wallpaper
• Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE) will be required by you:
  • Safety boots
  • Overalls

Introduction to Tiling- £445

During this 5 day Tiling course you will learn about:

• Preparing your area
• Setting out
• Cutting and laying tiles and
• Finishing (grouting and cleaning)
• Please note Personal Protection Equipment(PPE) will be required by you:
  • Safety boots
  • Overalls

We will teach you all about the different adhesives and tiles available and we will explain all of the tools used to complete a tiling installation.

You will learn floor and wall tiling including how to tile around windows and reveals, socket areas and splash-backs.

Introduction to Plastering- £445

During this 5 day Plastering course you will learn about:

• Health & Safety and PPE
• Cut and fix plaster board to walls and ceilings
• Tape standard and internal joints
• Cut and fix angle beads around windows and reveals.
• Prepare surfaces before plastering using bonding plaster and finishing plaster, ensuring a flat finished surface ready for decorating
• Mix plastering materials
• Skim walls
• Skim ceilings
• Apply PVA adhesive Uni-bond to existing surfaces.

Evening Classes

Please note – all courses are taught in English only

Furniture Restoration – £625 (12 week course – 6pm to 9pm)

12-week project-based furniture restoration, re-upholstery, re-making, re-vamping, or re-configuring session, 6pm to 9pm, taught on Wednesday evenings.

You can learn traditional restoration skills in this class or learn how to revamp or up-cycle a piece of furniture, antique or modern. Or, if you are adventurous, make new furniture from recycled old furniture.  The course is project based, so you will need to bring something, but it would be good to discuss it first.

The term fee includes some materials. The workshop is equipped for pretty much anything you want to do with wood and upholstery, but other materials such as metal or plastic might be trickier, so we should discuss what you want to do before you sign up.

Hand and Power Tool Training – £425 (2-week Course – 6pm to 9pm)

Course you will learn about:

Power Tools:

• Use Jigsaw/ Planer/ SDS Drill/ Combi Drill/ Impact Driver/ Circular Saw/ Track Saw
• Table Saw/ Mitre Saw/ 1^st & 2^nd Fixing Nail Gun/ Router/ Multi Tool

Hand Tools:

• Marking Tools/ Hand Saw/ Coping Saw/ Chisel/ Hammer
